This qualification is built on two core units that form the fundamental knowledge and understanding of Engineering principles, ‘Construction Technology’; and ‘Construction Design’. The course includes two additional optional units, ‘Scientific and Mathematical Applications for Construction’, and ‘Exploring Carpentry and Joinery Principles and
Techniques’.

Career Pathways

A useful platform for further study in apprenticeships and careers in Engineering. Leads to Level 3 vocational qualifications, such as BTEC Nationals, specifically in Construction , GCE AS or A Levels in Design and Technology – Product Design, employment within the Construction sector, such as junior roles in a range of Construction posts.

Assessment:

This qualification has an essential core of knowledge and applied skills with an external assessment linked to the Construction sector. Construction includes one externally assessed unit. The remaining units will be assessed internally throughout the course.
