This qualification is built on two core units that form the fundamental knowledge and understanding of engineering principles, ‘The Engineered Work’ and ‘Investigating an Engineered Product’. The course includes two additional optional units, thereby providing an opportunity to develop a broader understanding of the Engineering sector.

Career Pathways

A useful platform for further study in apprenticeships and careers in Engineering. Leads to Level 3 vocational qualifications, such as BTEC Nationals, specifically in Engineering or Electrical / Electronic Engineering, GCE AS or A Levels in Design and Technology – Product Design, employment within the Engineering sector, such as junior roles in a range of Engineering posts.

Assessment:

This qualification has an essential core of knowledge and applied skills with an external assessment linked to the Engineering sector. Engineering includes one externally assessed unit. The remaining units will be assessed internally throughout the course.
